Why is my Apple TV not activating?

The website says "Activation Successful" but my TV is gets an error message, "Could not verify activation code. The device is not valid. Please re-authorize this device to log in". Why is my Apple TV not activating?
Answer
We were made aware this morning, January 17, 2024, that there is currently an issue with the Apple TV activation process. We do apologize for any inconvenience and are working diligently to get this resolved. In the meantime, playback is still supported on iOS devices (iPad, iPhones), desktop browsers, and Roku.
